Training and qualifications
Mr Nick Gormack was educated at the University of Auckland Medical School and completed his orthopaedic training in New Zealand in 2014. He holds membership in the New Zealand Orthopaedic Association and Fellowship credentials with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons — FRACS (Orth).
He was appointed as an Orthopaedic Consultant at Middlemore Hospital in 2017, where he treats complex orthopaedic trauma alongside his private practice.
Fellowship training
Following his FRACS, Mr Gormack completed three international fellowships:
- Perth Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Clinic (2015) — knee and shoulder reconstruction.
- Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, London (2015–2016) — young adult hip preservation and complex arthroplasty.
- Southmead Hospital, Bristol (2016–2017) — advanced hip replacement, revision surgery and arthroscopic hip surgery.
Awards and appointments
- Gordon Gordon Taylor Prize — top FRACS examination candidate, 2007.
- President's Prize — Best Orthopaedic Trainee New Zealand, 2014.
- Editorial Board Member — Hip International journal.
- Orthopaedic Consultant — Middlemore Hospital, appointed 2017.
Special interests
Mr Gormack's special interests include hip arthroscopy, anterior approach hip replacement, computer-navigated and robotic knee replacement, ACL reconstruction, and complex trauma management. He performs over 100 computer-navigated total knee replacements annually.
Accreditation and insurance
Gormack Orthopaedics is a Southern Cross Affiliated Provider, with direct claiming for affiliated procedures. The practice is also ACC accredited — there is no charge for ACC-covered consultations and procedures.
