New Zealand-trained at the University of Auckland Medical School, completing orthopaedic training in 2014. Appointed Orthopaedic Consultant at Middlemore Hospital in 2017, specialising in sports injuries and arthritis management of the hip and knee.

Surgical expertise spans arthroscopic procedures of the hip, knee and shoulder, plus joint replacement and revision work. Three fellowships abroad — Perth, London, Bristol — give Mr Gormack a working repertoire in hip preservation, complex arthroplasty and arthroscopic surgery that few New Zealand surgeons share.
